Barack Obama: Amazing Speech!
US Polish immigrants encouraged to vote The campaign received the support of Zbigniew Brzezinski

As the presidential election in the US approaches the Polish community is mobilising the Polonia vote.
The White Eagle, an American magazine for Poles living in the US, has started a promotional campaign to encourage Polish immigrants to vote in the coming presidential election.
Dariusz Barcikowski, the Boston-based magazine's publisher, said that the "Polonia Votes" campaign has been organized in cooperation with other Polish media in the US, adding that the organizers want to register a million voters of Polish descent .
This is a way of demonstrating to political circles in the US that the Polish Diaspora is a force to be reckoned with, concludes Barcikowski.
The campaign received the support of Zbigniew Brzezinski, former national security advisor to President Jimmy Carter and Nicholas A. Rey, former US Ambassador to Poland in the years 1993-97.
There are over 10 million American of Polish descent. The exact number of Polish immigrants to the US is harder to estimate due to large illegal immigration. Chicago comes second in the world, after Warsaw, as the city with the highest number of Polish inhabitants, totalling 1.8 million
Sen. Hillary Rodham wants 65 Billions from Poland
By Lech Alex Bajan - Feb 13th, 2008 at 12:12 pm EST
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wrote to the Polish prime minister requesting that his country enact a restitution law for property confiscated during the Nazi and communist eras. Also signing the letter to Jaroslaw Kaczynski were members of the Helsinki Commission. Clinton (D-N.Y.) and the commission want the Polish government to ensure that properties obtained illegally will be returned or the owners will be properly compensated.
The signers welcomed statements by Polish government officials that they would work to pass legislation on the issue by the end of this year, but the commission expressed concerns that the victims have experienced numerous delays in their efforts to gain restitution.
Along with restitution or compensation, the commission’s recommendations in the letter to Kaczynski included keeping burdens for filing a claim to a minimum, consistent involvement of the central government and the return of artwork to its rightful owners.
“The delay in resolving the property claims of elderly survivors and their family members has gone on for too long,” Clinton said.
The Helsinki Commission is a U.S. government agency that monitors and encourages compliance with the agreements of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as established by the Helsinki Accords. Thirty-five countries signed on to the accords in 1975. (JTA)
Poland is still poor country and Poland will not pay any compensations to radical Israelis mostly living in US and had nothing to do with victims of the Holocaust in Poland during the second world war by German Army.
Most of them coming now to Poland did live in comfort in the US during the war and did not help the Jews in Poland or Poland in negotiations with Roosevelt and Churchill to put pressure during the war.
It took polish man Mr. Karski to come to US and give all the proof of the Holocaust to US President and the US Congress and unsuccessful attempt in Great Britain.
How you dare to get more money from Poland after you got over $100 billions from Germany and $10 Billions from Switzerland.
What about the Jewish collaborators with the communist Stalin in eastern part of Poland after the 1939 Russia aggression - eastern Poland.
Half of These Holocaust Victims Were Non-Jewish.
On August 22, 1939, a few days before the official start of World War II, Hitler authorized his commanders, with these infamous words, to kill “without pity or mercy, all men, women, and children of Polish descent or language. Only in this way can we obtain the living space [lebensraum] we need”.
Heinrich Himmler echoed Hitler’s decree:
“All Poles will disappear from the world…. It is essential that the great German people should consider it as its major task to destroy all Poles.”
On September 1, 1939, Hitler invaded Poland from three directions. Hitler’s invincible troops attacked from the west, the north and the south. Poland never had a chance. By October 8, 1939, Polish Jews and non-Jews were stripped of all rights and, were subject to special legislation. Rationing, which allowed for only bare sustenance of food and medicine was quickly set up.
Young Polish men were forcibly drafted into the German army.
The Polish language was forbidden. Only the German language was allowed.
All secondary schools and colleges were closed.
The Polish press was liquidated. Libraries and bookshops were burned.
Polish art and culture were destroyed.
Polish churches and snyagogues were burned.
Most of the priests were arrested and sent to concentration camps.
Street signs were either destroyed or changed to new German names. Polish cities and towns were renamed in German.
Ruthless obliteration of all traces of Polish history and culture.
Hitler’s Goal: Terrorize Polish People Into Subservience.
Hundreds of Polish community leaders, mayors, local officials, priests, teachers, lawyers, judges, senators, doctors were executed in public.
Much of the rest of the so-called Intelligentsia, the Polish leading class, was sent to concentration camps where they later died.
The first mass execution of World War II took place in Wawer, a town near Warsaw, Poland on December 27, 1939 when 107 Polish non-Jewish men were taken from their homes in the middle of the night and shot.
This was just the beginning of the street roundups and mass executions that continued throughout the war.
At the same time, on the eastern border of Poland, the Soviet Union invaded and quickly conquered. Germany and the Soviet Union divided Poland in half. The western half, occupied by the Nazis, became a new German territory: “General Gouvernment”. The eastern half was incorporated within the adjoining Russian border by Soviet “elections”. This new border “realignment” conferred Soviet citizenship on its new Polish inhabitants. And all young Polish men were subject to being drafted into the Soviet army.
Just like the Nazis the Soviets also reigned terror in Poland. The Soviets took over Polish businesses, Polish factories and destroyed churches and religious buildings. The Polish currency (zloty) was removed from circulation. All Polish banks were closed and savings accounts were blocked.
During the period of the Holocaust of World War II, Poland lost:
45% of her doctors,
57% of her attorneys
40% of her professors,
30% of her technicians,
more than 18% of her clergy
most of her journalists.
Poland’s educated class was purposely targeted because the Nazis knew that this would make it easier to control the country.
Non-Jews of Polish descent suffered over 100,000 deaths at Auschwitz. The Germans forcibly deported approximately 2,000,000 Polish Gentiles into slave labor for the Third Reich. The Russians deported almost 1,700,000 Polish non-Jews to Siberia. Men, women and children were forced from their homes with no warning. Transferred in cattle cars in freezing weather, many died on the way. Polish children who possessed Aryan-looking characteristics were wrenched from their mother’s arms and placed in German homes to be raised as Germans.
The Polish people were classified by the Nazis according to their racial characteristics. The ones who appeared Aryan were deported to Lodz for further racial examination. Most of the others were sent to the Reich to work in slave labor camps. The rest were sent to Auschwitz to die. Polish Christians and Catholics were actually the first victims of the notorious German death camp. For the first 21 months after it began in 1940, Auschwitz was inhabited almost exclusively by Polish non-Jews. The first ethnic Pole died in June 1940 and the first Jew died in October 1942.
Because of the obliteration of the Polish press by the Nazis, most of the world was not aware, including many parts of Nazi-occupied Poland, of the atrocities going on. Even to this day, much documentation of the Holocaust is not available. The entire records of Auschwitz were stolen by the Soviets and not returned. It was Hitler’s goal to rewrite history.
The Nazis destroyed books, monuments, historical inscriptions. They began a forceful campaign of propaganda to convince the world of the inferiority and weakness of the Polish people and likewise, their invincible superiority and power.

1.FT.com / In depth - Yushchenko links poison to meal with secret police Yushchenko ( today DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT PRO US IN UKRAINE ) links poison to meal with secret police … Mr Kuchma’s businessman son-in-law, Viktor Pinchuk,
Victor Pinchuk son-in-law of former president Wiktor Kuchma and his ministers ignored the requests of the international community to allow the media to work independently and to investigate the numerous journalists’ murders.
2.Victor Pinchuk allegedly link the to the killing of many free/open news jurnalists like Georgy Gongadze, sought and received asylum in US on April 13, 2001. Washington also granted asylum to Myroslava Gongadze, the journalist’s 28-year-old widow who had helped her husband in various projects).
The new government is trying to rectify the mistakes of the old regime and to reinvestigate the cases of killed journalists.
For example, the investigation of Georgiy Gongadze’s murder still attracts a large public and international attention today. He was the editor of the Internet publication “Ukrayinska Pravda” (Ukraine’s Truth) who was kidnapped on Sept16 2000. A few days later, he was found dead and beheaded in the forest nearby Kyiv. During the past four years, this case had not been well investigated, because of the possibility that people from high political ranks, including the ex-president Leonid Kuchma, were involved in the murder. The investigation was stopped several times, and the results of the body examination were falsified. As a result, the body of Georgiy Gongadze has not yet been buried, and currently, new investigators are re-examining it.
It is also worth noting that American system of checks and balances under which different branches of power compete with each other. Therefore, parliament as a cornerstone of every democratic polity is supposed either to dominate the executive or form a reform minded, while democratic opposition to the President. Ukrainian Parliament has failed to do so. Setting up an a Parliamentary investigative commission to probe into Gongadze case underlined the impotence of the legislature since the commission had no legal ground for its activities — the law on Parliamentary investigative commissions (such institution is envisaged in the Constitution) was vetoed by the President and Parliament was unable to override the veto.
Confirmed that Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, a son-in-law of former president Wiktor Kuchma, had made contributions to Clinton Foundation
which in my opinion may effect Hillary Clinton for President.
It was the controversial privatizations of state enterprises in the 1990s that led to many leading Ukrainians making vast fortunes.
We have a sense that the power of the oligarchs has been reduced
Paul Bermingham
World Bank’s Ukraine director
These groups of business people, which are based in the industrial East and in Kiev, contain some of the wealthiest and most influential people in the country, including former President Leonid Kuchma and many of Ukraine’s oligarchs.
During his 10-year rule, Mr Kuchma was accused of cronyism and presiding over one of the most corrupt countries in Europe.
“The old system was all corrupted,” says Mr Rybachuk. “Business and politics were interconnected. People would just walk around with kilos of cash and they used to believe they could do what they liked.”
Ukraine fears the rise of new oligarchs
BBC News, Kiew, Ukraine
December 2002, soon after billionaire Victor Pinchuk married the daughter of then Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, the Ukrainian government announced it was prematurely lifting a moratorium on the privatisation of Nikopol. Three months later Kuchma’s government announced the intended sale of a controlling interest in Nikopol. A consortium led by Pinchuk won a tender process designed to favour him.
According to the complaint, Kuchma’s regime became infamous for “the near-total corruption of its official economic life”. In 2004 Ukrainian voters took to the streets in what has come to be known as the Orange Revolution. Its leader, opposition candidate Victor Yushchenko, ultimately defeated Kuchma’s successor-designate and took office early last year.
Ukraine’s oligarchs and friends of Yanukovich, moving to re-privatize industrial assets, allegedly bought on the cheap by billionaires Rinat Akhmetov and Victor Pinchuk. (One such asset, the steel plant Kryvorizhstal, which was obtained by Akhmetov and Pinchuk for $800 million, was later sold to billionaire Lakshmi Mittal for nearly $5 billion.)
Victor Pinchuk now members of parliament themselves, lobbied strongly to put Yanukovich back in power. After months of political stalemate, Yushchenko accepted Yanukovich as his prime minister in August.
President Kuchma called this practice “protection of national economy.” The result of such discrimination was a huge loss for the state budget. Pinchuk and Akhmetov paid US$800 million for Kryvorizhstal, whereas American and Russian investors proposed more than US$1.5 billion.
Corruption stories in Ukrainian media serve primarily as tools of war among groups of media owners, then secondarily as a field for journalistic investigations. On television, only Channel 5 promotes a regular program, Zakryta Aona (Closed Area), designed with professional standards of investigatory journalism. The subject of the program varies, from falsification of the Mukacheve mayoral elections to the corrupt activity of the State Department of Affairs (Derzhavne Upravlinnya Spravamy), which operates with state-owned property.
Tolerance of “small” corruption remains a critical social problem. While strongly criticizing “oligarchs” and other high-ranking corrupt figures, ordinary Ukrainians often consider small bribery as a useful tool to speed the pace of securing needed and favorable official decisions. For ordinary citizens, bureaucratic procedures appear to be an obstacle to economic and other activities, and they often prefer to pay bribes rather than waste time in bureaucratic corridors.
